COVO was founded in Rome, Italy in 1992 principally as an importer of japanese porcelain.
In 1997 they shifted in company strategy. Design became an important factor in defining a new, innovative direction through the production of a collection of objects of contemporary inspiration.
Not forgetting the origins of the company, COVO uses traditional and ancient materials such as glass, porcelain and iron in their new design projects.
COVO is involved in the production of high quality household objects; combining contemporary designers with skilled artisans to create objects ranging from Japanese porcelain to Murano glassware. In recent years various COVO products have won design prizes and the company has been mentioned a number of times in the International Design Yearbook.
COVO, now has a sales area approximately 450 square feet dedicated to COVO products in a newly refurbished House of Fraser store, Rackhams in Birmingham. This is the first dedicated area within a department store for COVO in Great Britain. It showcases a range of Covo products, including Murano glass pieces designed by Stefano Giovannoni, Jerszy Seymour, James Irvine, Ritsue Mishima and Emmanuel Babled along with tableware, glassware and cutlery by a number of designers.
COVO works with a number of international designers in the production of its ranges: Emmanuel Babled, Jeffrey Bernett, Stephen Burks, Fabio Faraoni, Stefano Giovannoni, Richard Hutten, James Irvine, Vico Magistretti, Ritsue Mishima, Marre Moerel, Marcello Panza, Jerszy Seymour and Kazuhiko Tomita.
