The David Mellor shop in Sloane Square, London has a great reputation for really professional kitchenware and tableware.Since it opened in 1969 it has become established as one of the star attractions of the modern London shopping scene.
David Mellor, Royal Designer for Industry, has an international reputation as designer, manufacturer and shopkeeper. Born in Sheffield, he has always specialised in metalwork and has often been described as 'the cutlery king'.
An extremely comprehensive kitchenware collection covers pans and grills, kitchen tools and knives, coffee machines, pasta makers, etc. Most of their superbly designed ranges of table pottery and glass are exclusive to the David Mellor shops.
As well as the shop in Sloane Square, you can also visit The Round Building at Hathersage in Derbyshire. A unique small-scale factory, designed by Sir Michael Hopkins for the production of David Mellor cutlery, it has been hailed as a 'minor masterpiece' of modern architecture.
The factory is open for viewing on weekdays and visitors are welcome to see David Mellor cutlery being made. Alongside the factory is The Country Shop, which stocks a full range of cutlery and a collection of the finest British crafts.
David Mellor Design works on the simple principle that well-designed equipment can improve your life.
