Dutch by Design is more than an on-line interior shop, providing beautiful, contemporary interior accessories from both established and up-and-coming designers.
They also operate an acquisition service, capable of locating almost any designer item at little or no extra charge to your purchase. Founding partners Venka de Rooij and Chris White believe that design should be beautiful, functional and affordable.
After a successful City career, Dutch-born Venka sought a career change to indulge her passion for design. Recognising that Dutch design was receiving more international appreciation, receiving several major design awards and appearing in various design museums, Dutch by Design was born. As well as featuring well-known brand names like Droog and Moooi, less-known designers are presented with equal zest.
Going to great lengths to source those items, Venka has made it a mission to provide striking, quirky and affordable interior accessories by website and mail order.
She states, 'We make great efforts to source those items that are special, visiting designers and academies on a regular basis; I am always delighted when we manage to track down that design piece that may well become a true design classic, especially when it is not available anywhere else'. She continues, 'increasingly, customers are asking me to be their personal shopper, using my inside knowledge of the Dutch design scene to source the perfect product: overall, our aim is to provide a service that is personal, convenient and effective'.
