Set up in 1986 by Sheridan Coakley, SCP has been manufacturing furniture by some of the leading names in British design, including Matthew Hilton, Jasper Morrison and Terence Woodgate.
The SCP flagship store in Curtain Road, a main thoroughfare of the fashionable Shoreditch area of East London, is one of the largest outlets for contemporary design in Britain.
Alongside our core products we sell a carefully edited range of furniture, lighting, kitchenware, rugs, books and accessories by some of the most famous design names and brands in history. Our other stores set in Selfridges in London, Manchester and Birmingham offers a full range of SCP products and selected items are also available from other leading stores.
Architects and other specifiers use our commercial division, SCP Contracts, to supply furniture and accessories for their projects. Among the environments for which SCP products have been supplied or manufactured are Tate Modern, the Dome, the New Art Gallery Walsall, the stations for the Heathrow Express and Pharmacy restaurant in London. We are part of the global design market. Each year we show our new designs at the furniture trade fairs in Milan, New York and at 100% Design in London.
As well as the commissions we give to designers for our core collection, we work regularly with other professionals from the creative industries. Our flagship store is designed by the architects Munkenbeck and Marshall. In 1999 SCP played a leading role in a number of initiatives as part of Glasgow's year as UK City of Architecture and Design.
