Behind the brand
Seasalt’s story began in Penzance in 1981, when Don Chadwick opened his first shop on Adelaide Street. It sold traditional workwear to local farmers, fishermen and artists and was known as General Clothing Stores. Inspired by this creative, coastal community, Don’s sons – Neil, Leigh and David – decided to create a clothing brand and, with the help of a growing team, they started to design their own collections. Seasalt was born.
The team today includes a brilliant mix of fashion and textile designers, fine artists and illustrators. It’s their sketchbooks and skill that bring Seasalt’s imaginative ideas to life. It’s their attention to detail and exceptional quality that have won them such a loyal and growing following.
Seasalt has grown very quickly, and is increasingly recognised and loved as a sustainable and flourishing coastal fashion brand. They use more sustainable fabrics than ever before in their stand-out styles, curating a collection made to be loved for years to come.
Seasalt’s goals have always been simple: to craft beautiful clothing that inspires and endures, share their love of Cornwall and reduce the impact of their business on the environment.
They are bringing a new level of ambition to their Sustainability Strategy, which is structured around four pillars - Product, Environment, Innovation and Community.
Seasalt also truly believe their clothing has so much more to give after you've finished wearing it. That's why they are piloting a clothing take-back scheme called Seasalt ReLoved in 10 of their shops across the UK helping you to write a new chapter for Seasalt clothes that you have loved and lived in.
